Sealy UK proud kit sponsors, as Threlkeld Cricket Club play first match in 3 years, since devastating floods ruined the cricket grounds.

It’s been three years since the small but thriving Threlkald cricket club, located at the foot of Blencathra in the heart of the Lake District have played a match on their home ground. The Club was left in ruins when the overflow from a blocked culvert caused tens of thousands of pounds of damage during heavy rainfall three years ago. But love of them game ensued and staff, team and supporters went on a fundraising marathon to get the grounds repaired raising over £60,000 by creating a novelty calendar.

Saturday 16th May saw all their efforts pay off and they could return once again to their grounds for a match against Langholm.

As an extra incentive the team had brand new kits sponsored by Sealy UK, whose fleet often pass the club and use the cricket-grounds facilities, and the Aspatria-based bed company were keen to lend their support.

Michael Webster, Club Treasurer said, “It’s fantastic to get support from a national company like Sealy UK, and I think the kit with their logo looks great . We are very grateful to them for supporting us and sponsoring the team’s kit. Small clubs like us rely on this type of continued support and generosity, as quite simply without it we wouldn’t be able to play matches and do what we love.”

Langholm had a 5 wicket victory at Threlkeld, but it was hard to dampen the spirits of a team, so happy to just be playing on their patch again.
