Phil Tufnell

Much loved sporting celebrity, Phil “Tuffers” Tufnell paid a visit to the annual Bed Show at the International Centre for an extra special appearance – invited to attend by sleep expert Sealy.

Nicknamed “the cat” due to his tendency to catch a few zeds in his A Question of Sport dressing room, the former cricketer understands the importance of a good night’s sleep. This makes Phil the perfect ambassador for Sealy’s World of Sport campaign which promotes the intrinsic link between sleep and sporting performance.

Phil shared his experiences with visitors in an exclusive “meet and greet” session on the Sealy stand, as well as signing autographs and speaking about how sleep impacted on his training regime and sporting performance over the years.

Phil said, “Sleep is one of my favourite things, in fact I’d say I’m rather good at it. But on a serious note, it really does play a major role when you’re training hard and competing in your field. Getting enough rest was always top on my list of priorities, because it really did have an impact. If I didn’t get good quality sleep, I felt less alert and my body didn’t perform as well as it should. It’s still something I take really seriously now too. Visiting Telford for the Bed Show was a great experience and I really enjoyed meeting visitors to the Sealy UK stand.”

Neil Robinson, Sealy UK Sales and Marketing Director said, “It was fantastic to welcome Phil to Telford this year. He’s a much-loved personality who has had a fantastic career, with much success since he retired from his sport too. He had so many stories to share with the visitors to our stand. It’s also great that Phil is supporting our World of Sport campaign. Sleep helps athletes to recharge and makes sure their bodies are in top condition when it comes to training and competing – that’s what the campaign is all about.”
